Getting Help from the Advocacy Project
The Vermont Victim Advocacy Project offered two programs that provide direct services to crime victims:
The Legal Representation Program: This program provided an attorney who will represent you in connection with the criminal case. It is generally most important to have your attorney present during your deposition and at the restitution hearing (if restitution is contested). Please review the frequently asked questions or visit the Legal Representation Program page for more information.
Unfortunately, legal representation is not currently available.
The
Understanding Criminal Justice
Program: This program publishes the Victim's
Guide to Vermont's
Criminal Justice System and a series of brochures: What Crime Victims Need to Know About.... The
Advocacy Project also presents regular seminars
about the
workings of the criminal justice system from the victim's point of
view. Please see the freqently asked questions
about the Understanding
Criminal Justice Program and contact us
with any questions.
Victim Impact Statement forms and assistance are now available.
Have an abuse prevention order from another State? It can help protect you in Vermont.
